Calcite

Chengzhou, China - 3x4x4.5 cm

Due to both its color and shape, I usually name this specimen my "hard candy"! A gemmy, light-yellow Calcite crystal of 2.1 cm is placed on a black matrix, thus providing an amazing chromatic contrast. The pictures highlight the notable brightness and the visible diamon-shaped streakes on the crystal faces. One of the most aesthetic Calcites in the collection. Really a wonderful miniature. I purchased this jewel at the Torino Mineral Show, at the end of '90s.
