Calcite

Dalnegorsk, Russia - 6.5x4x3.5 cm

A very special miniature from Dalnegorsk. An isolated group (?) of Calcite crystals are literally "melted" on a small carpet of pale-green prase quartz. The Calcite was probably subjected to a high increase of the temperature and assumed a particular shape, where it is no longer possible to distinguish the original edges of the crystals. The result is a clear and transparent "jelly", with a great aesthetic impact. Acquired at the Bologna Mineral Show, by Giuseppe Siccardi ("YourMineralCollection") in 2009.
