Epidote on Clinochlore

Valle Antrona, Verbania - 8x4.5x4.5 cm

A spectacular, isolated and doubly terminated alpine epidoto on a carpet of dark chlinochlore. The crystal is 1.5 cm long and has a very deep green color; in spite of the relevant thickness, it also exhibits a notable transparency and brightness. The Antrona Valley is a classic and historical locality for this species and at present these specimens are very hard to be found on the market. I acquired this classic by a collector in 2007.
