Hessonite on Clinochlore

Bellecombe, Aosta - 8.5x3x3 cm

A wonderful specimen of hessonite (1.3 cm), with the typical growing shape of this garnet coming from the Italian Alps. The ruby red color is very deep and the chromatic contrast with the carpet of clinocloro (a common mica from this locality) is excellent. No damage. Nowadays, it is very difficult to find this quality on the market, even at the little Shows taking place in the alpine villages. I shopped this stunning miniature at the Roma Mineral Show at the end of 90's.
