Spessartine on Quartz

Several smoky quartz crystal (up to 5 cm) lie on a carpet of scattered, top-quality spessartines. The largest garnet measures 0.8 cm and exhibits an uncommon deep red color and an excellent lightness. Such a quality is very rare in the several spessartine specimens coming from China and the contrast with the dark quartz is very fine. I shopped this miniature at R&T Minerals in 2001.
