Tourmaline

S. Piero in Campo, Elba - 9x8x6 cm

A classic from the world of minerals: a polychrome tourmaline of 1.1cm on a pegmatite matrix from the Elba Island. The main crystal exhibits a light green color and a perfect, white termination with a clear, inner vein. All around, quartz, ortoclase, mica and some other smaller elbaite crystal. Nowadays, it's very difficult to find this kind of specimen on the market and, when it happens, the cost is always very high. I was very lucky to find it in an old collection at Elba at the end of 90's and to persuade the owner to leave it away. Nowadays, the purchase of such a specimen could not be easily affordable.
