Vesuvianite

M.te Somma, Napoli - 4.5x4x2.5 cm

In a little vug of a volcanic rock (from the original region of Monte Vesuvio, from which the species takes its own name) a brilliant group of lustrous Vesuvianite, up to 0.8 cm. The color and brightness are of top-quality, comparable with the analogous specimens coming from the Alps. The crystals are vertically placed and free of damage. Not easy to find this quality on the market. I purchased this miniature at a Verona Mineral Show, at the end of 80's.
